Concept
Tetrad Harmony
A colour scheme using four colours placed equidistantly around the colour wheel.
“The tetrad is the most demanding structured harmony to execute - strong dominance is essential or all four colours compete equally and the scheme loses all hierarchy.”
Tetrad schemes offer the greatest colour variety of any structured harmony but are the most demanding to unify. Four equidistant hues create a rich but potentially overwhelming palette, requiring the highest level of colour management skill. Strong dominance is essential - one colour must lead clearly, or all four compete equally and the scheme loses all hierarchy. It is not a scheme for the underprepared.
