FAQ

What is harmony in floral design?

Harmony in floral design is the state in which all elements and principles are working in agreement with one another, producing a unified whole. It is a goal of all floral arrangements - not a principle alongside Balance, Rhythm, and the others, but the outcome toward which the entire framework of elements and principles is directed. Harmony is achieved when the principles and elements work in combination with each other rather than in competition. A design in which colour, form, line, texture, and space all support each other - and in which balance, rhythm, proportion, scale, contrast, and dominance are all resolved - produces harmony. Because harmony is the goal and not a tool, it cannot be applied directly: it is what you find when everything else is working well. Sources: Pampling (100, 105, 210).
