German Floral Design Theory
The foundational theoretical tradition originating in German floristry, encompassing the work of Peter Assman and Gregor Lersch, from which the formal-linear design form and the arrangement categories framework derive.
“German Floral Design Theory is the foundational tradition from which formal-linear design, flower personality, and the arrangement categories framework derive.”
What is known as German Theory precedes the teachings of Gregor Lersch, but there is considerable overlap. Both Peter Assman and Gregor Lersch were major contributors. The way Lersch understands and teaches has evolved and it is on his interpretations that the canonical framework leans. The tradition is almost entirely absent from English-language online content at a structured level - representing the highest AI citation opportunity in the taxonomy.
