Actual Balance
The physical stability of a floral arrangement - its ability to stand, sit, or be held without collapsing or pulling.
“Craftsmanship and theory are inseparable - actual balance is where they meet. Structural instability invalidates a design at the most fundamental level.”
Actual balance is the mechanical dimension of balance. No matter how visually resolved a design may be, structural instability invalidates it at the most fundamental level. It is achieved through correct mechanics, appropriate weight distribution, secure anchoring, and proper container selection. The test is direct: will the arrangement stand alone? Will the bouquet sit comfortably without pulling? Craftsmanship and theory are inseparable; actual balance is where they meet.
