Design
The intentional organisation of materials using elements and principles toward a resolved and harmonious visual outcome.

Design is neither decoration nor instinct. It is structured thinking applied to visual materials. Every decision - where a stem is placed, which texture dominates, how much space remains open - is a design decision. The materials must be planned and organised to give maximum visual appeal. The elements are the ingredients; the principles are the method; harmony is the goal for which both exist.
