Dynamic Line
A curved, diagonal, zigzag, or contorted line that creates visual energy and a sense of movement within a composition.
“A dynamic line achieves its fullest energy against the stability of a static one - their relationship generates expressive range.”
Dynamic lines move in more than one direction relative to vertical or horizontal lines. They are seen as lively and energetic - especially when used in contrast to a static line. Their expressive power is relational: a dynamic line achieves its fullest energy against the stability of a static one. Curved lines have greater inherent rhythm than straight lines, immediately suggesting movement.
