Golden Section
A mathematical ratio of approximately 1:1.618 used as a guideline for aesthetically resolved proportion, expressed practically as the 3:5:8 rule.
“The Golden Section is a principle of aesthetic resolution, not a formula for mechanical application. There are no absolute rules - it is a starting point, not a prescription.”
The Golden Section describes a proportion that recurs throughout natural forms and has been used in art and architecture for millennia. In floral design it provides a guide for dividing arrangements into unequal but harmonious parts. The simplified expression - 3:5:8 - is applied to decisions of proportion, dominance distribution, and spatial division. It is a principle of aesthetic resolution, not a formula for mechanical application. There are no absolute rules.
