Monochromatic Harmony
A colour scheme using only tints, tones, and shades of a single hue - the simplest form of colour harmony.
“Despite its apparent simplicity, monochromatic harmony demands significant colour discipline - interest must be achieved entirely through value and chroma management.”
Monochromatic harmony combines two or more values of one hue with its full range of modifications. Despite its apparent simplicity, it demands significant colour discipline - the designer must achieve interest entirely through value and chroma management. The most intense versions of the hue belong low or toward the axis; softer tints move outward. It is an excellent starting point for developing colour sensitivity.
