Radial Point
The single origin point from which all lines and stems of a traditional design emerge or toward which they converge.
“The radial point is the structural foundation of traditional design - all materials appear to emerge from or converge toward this single point. Modern design deliberately departs from it.”
The radial point is the structural foundation of the traditional symmetrical arrangement. It is typically located at the base of the arrangement at the container rim. All materials appear to emerge from or converge toward this single point, creating a design that reads as unified. Traditional designs frequently have a dominant vertical and a secondary horizontal line intersecting through this point. Modern design deliberately departs from single-point radial logic.
