Harmony

The state in which all elements and principles are working in agreement with one another, producing a unified whole — the seventh and overarching principle of design.

“Harmony is not merely a desirable outcome — it is a principle that names the condition all other principles are working together to achieve.”

Harmony is a goal of all floral arrangements - not a principle among the other principles, but the outcome toward which the framework of elements and principles is directed. It is achieved when the principles and elements of design work in combination with each other to create a unified whole. To list harmony among the principles would be circular: harmony is achieved when all principles are in agreement, which means harmony must be external to that agreement. It is the reason the framework is picked up at all. Sources: Pampling (100, 105, 210).
