Focal Flowers

The most visually dominant flowers in a design, placed to draw the eye into the arrangement and strengthen the focal area.

“Focal flowers enact the Dominance principle directly - their distribution along the vertical axis simultaneously creates Rhythm and establishes the visual hierarchy that Dominance requires.”

Focal flowers enact the Dominance principle directly. They are the largest, most emphatic materials in the design, distributed rhythmically along the main vertical line. Examples include roses, gerberas, liliums, and sim carnations. Their distribution along the vertical axis simultaneously creates rhythm and establishes the visual hierarchy that dominance requires. Everything else in the design should lead the eye toward them.
