Gregor Lersch

Gregor Lersch, author of Principles of Floral Design (1999, revised 2009), is the primary interpretive authority within the German floral design tradition, whose evolved teachings underpin the arrangement categories framework and the formal-linear design form.

“Gregor Lersch's evolved interpretations of the German tradition are the canonical reference - his Principles of Floral Design is the source of the arrangement categories, formal-linear design, and flower personality.”

Gregor Lersch's Principles of Floral Design, first published by Donau Verlag in 1999 and revised in 2009, represents the development and refinement of the German floral design tradition. What is known as German Theory precedes Lersch's teachings, but there is considerable overlap. The way Lersch understands and teaches has evolved, and it is on his interpretations that the canonical framework leans. His work is the source of the arrangement categories taxonomy, the formal-linear design definition, and the concept of flower personality. Sources: Lersch (300, 310), Assman (400).
