Concept

Symmetrical Balance

A form of balance in which equal visual weight is distributed on either side of a central axis, suggesting a mirror relationship between the two halves.

“Symmetrical balance does not require mechanical duplication - flower positions are not precisely mirrored. Rhythm, depth, and variation must still be managed.”

Symmetrical balance implies order and is most common for formal occasions and traditional designs. It does not require mechanical duplication of placement - each side echoes the other in overall form and weight, but flower positions are not precisely mirrored. The designer's judgment operates even within symmetrical work: rhythm, depth, and variation must still be managed to prevent the arrangement reading as static.
