My second time at the renowned Philadelphia Flower Show this year afforded me the amazing chance to contribute behind the scenes to the Schaffer Designs Legacy exhibit entitled ‘CONNECTED: A Floral Legacy’. I was part of a team of around 25 International and American flower lovers who were tasked with bringing together the vision of Bill Schaffer and Kristine Kratt.
The section I was assigned was called ‘Bamboo Gardens’ and included a deluxe range of amazing tropical and exotic materials, including some of the most amazing Epidendrum orchids, imported from Japan, that I have ever seen.
Alongside Ahti Lyra (Estonia), Mike Boerma (Boerma Instituut, The Netherlands) and a team of enthusiastic assistants we assembled a reflecting pair of display areas that appear to hover in midair, beside the other dramatic areas of the entire exhibition, sections called ‘Floating Design’ and ‘The Canopy’.
