Displacement, Distinction, Disruption

A Three Day Workshop with Master Florist Gregor Lersch

Saturday 10th to Monday 12th August, Sydney, Australia

Advance your floral craftsmanship in this rare opportunity to share three days of hands-on theory, learning and techniques with Gregor Lersch, hosted by Mark Pampling and Flower Thinking.

Saturday 10th to Monday 12th August, Sydney, Australia
  • Displacement

Stretch the limits of balance and proportion with displacement, the design style made famous by Gregor. Working with the focal area(s) of our designs away from the point of origin, we’ll experiment with balance and proportion in the extremes of asymmetry.

  • Distinction

Use the design process to express yourself with a curated set of materials, making design design decisions that represent your own personal style in a harmonious design.

  • Disruption

Learn what Gregor has uncovered in the years that he's been focusing on sustainability, in a morning of teaching and demonstration. Spend the afternoon applying sustainable principles as we create our own designs.

Surround yourself for three days, with like-minded creative souls in learning from the best.

Gregor is known for his immersive and engaging teaching style, his holistic approach to floral craftsmanship and for generously sharing the knowledge he has acquired over decades.

Experience Gregor's rare gift for explaining the intricacies of designing in ways that will translate into confidence and assuredness in your own personal practice.

Perhaps the most influential teacher of Floral Design of our time, Gregor Lersch is widely known for his contributions to Floral Design Theory.

His works - perhaps most notably Principles of Floral Design - are considered canonical, and are found on the bookshelves and workbenches of practitioners, teachers and judges of floral art and design around the world.

Most notably, however, Gregor is known as a generous and passionate teacher whose work transcends differences between different schools of floral art and design.

Mark has been designing, competing, teaching and judging for thirty years and is known for his clear, linear style as well as his patient and inclusive way of sharing his knowledge.

Displacement, Distinction, Disruption Workshop 2024

Displacement, Distinction, Disruption Workshop 2024

Advance your floral craftsmanship in three days of hands-on application of theory and techniques with Gregor Lersch, hosted by Mark Pampling and Flower Thinking.

We'll create Displacement-, Formal-linear- and Reductionist-inspired designs, exploring sustainability, asymmetry and minimalism, while extending our own personal design style.

Each day, Gregor will explain his thought processes as he creates items demonstrating the topic of the day. We'll then each get to create our own design to the chosen theme, either with a free choice or a fixed set of materials.

Lunch, morning and afternoon tea will be provided each day. All materials, props, containers and sundries are also provided - just bring basic floristry hand tools.

To ensure an intimate, quality learning experience with adequate space, time and support for each participant, places are strictly limited to 26 participants.
