Floral Leaders Seminar

A One Day Professional Development Seminar for Floral Teachers, Judges, Demonstrators and Leaders, Current and Emerging

Tuesday 13th August, Sydney, Australia

Reinvigorate Your Passion for Floral Design Theory

Join Gregor and Mark in a one day seminar focused on applying, teaching and evaluating floral design principles.

Explore current developments in theory with Gregor as he demonstrates and brings design theory to life.

Tuesday 13th August - Sydney, Australia

Our aim for this seminar is to bring together the worlds of floral art, design and floristry in Australia and New Zealand through a common understanding of the design schema and principles.

In three sessions and a forum, Gregor will discuss the Design Schema, Grading, Trends and Sustainability.

Through demonstration, explanation and discussion, Gregor will bring to life design concepts in a way that makes it easier for us to understand, teach and apply them.

The forum will provide a rare opportunity to to ask questions and hear answers from Gregor.

In the first session Gregor will give a refresher on the design Scheme and its organisation, with an update on his latest ideas, including Grading, Asymmetry, Diagonal designing, Overlapping and Free line order.

A session on Trends will cover Garden Style, Displacement and Minimalism/reductionism, with a discussion on why each is important, and its impact on teaching, judging and designing.

Gregor will provide us with his perspective on current developments in sustainable mechanics in international floral design, and how to incorporate them into our creative process.

In a final session, Gregor will respond to our questions on the topics of the day.

We'll have the opportunity to submit questions in advance for prior consideration, and to ask questions in person as well.

Join Us in This Rare One Day Professional Development Opportunity

Whether we teach, judge or demonstrate (or aspire to), we will attain new perspectives on floral design theory that enrich our practice, be it in teaching, judging or presenting.

Perhaps the most influential teacher of Floral Design of our time, Gregor Lersch is widely known for his contributions to Floral Design Theory.

His works - perhaps most notably Principles of Floral Design - are considered canonical, and are found on the bookshelves and workbenches of practitioners, teachers and judges of floral art and design around the world.

Most notably, however, Gregor is known as a generous and passionate teacher whose work transcends differences between different schools of floral art and design.

Mark Pampling has been designing, competing, teaching and judging for thirty years now and is as well known for his clear, linear design style as for his patient and inclusive way of sharing his knowledge.
